Payment Information Page

The Payment Information page on the Tutor's Site shows all the information regarding your earnings and deductions. Other than checking your coming payment details, you can also use it to generate payment information for different periods, using the available filters.

Note that this page is updated with the information (payslip) about the latest cut-off and the coming payment 3-5 days before the payout date. Before that, the page may not have the previous cut-off payment data on it.

Tutor's Lesson Rate

You can check your lesson rate (lesson fee) by checking the Payment Information page on the Tutor's Site and opening any of the existing payslips shown when you choose a specific payout date, or by reading through your copy of the contract.

PH Cut-Off Dates

Filipino tutors’ payments are credited twice a month. The cut-off periods are as follows:

a. 6th to the 20th of the month (Payment is on the last day of the month)
Example:
Cut off Period - January 6 at 0:00 JST to January 20 at 23:30 JST
Payment on - January 31

b. 21st of the month to the 5th of the following month (Payment is on the 15th of the following month)
Example:
Cut off Period - January 21 at 0:00 JST to February 5 at 23:30 JST
Payment on - February 15

If payday falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or holiday, it will then be credited on Friday or the last working day before it is to be released.

PH Tutors' Payment Scheme

While old tutors receive their payment via BPI, new tutors are required to open GCash accounts. The option for BPI users to switch to GCash is currently unavailable.

For new tutors, you may check this article for more information on the process of applying for a GCash account.

You have the option to link your existing bank accounts to your GCash account for a smoother bank transfer, or if you prefer to cash out your money, you can find some useful information on how to encash your money in GCash from this article.

Please submit your GCash information via this form: [Engoo PH] GCash Payment Submission Form. The payroll team can only process payments to your own GCash accounts, so make sure to only submit the GCash information created under your name.

How to Update Your Payment Information and TIN

The Tutor-Payroll team needs to update your payment information by the cut-off date. Consequently, adjustment requests sent after the cut-off will reflect on the next payout.

You can go to our [Engoo PH] GCash Payment Submission Form to submit or update your GCash information. For existing BPI users, you can update your information by contacting the Tutor Payroll Team via email.

Note: The deadline for submission and update is every cut-off.

For TIN updates, you may directly contact the Tutor-Payroll Team at tutor.payroll@engoo.com so we can process the changes.

You may contact GCash Customer Support to inquire or request any account updates. Consequently, changing your tutor’s email on the tutor’s page will not automatically change your payment email on the Tutor-Payroll side. Kindly email tutor.payroll@engoo.com instead.

PH TIN and Tax Deductions

The company is not responsible for your TIN application as you are an independent contractor. To do this, you can visit any BIR branch and get a TIN as a self-employed worker or as an independent contractor. Kindly fill out Form 1901, and not 1902, because 1902 is for employees. You can download the form from the BIR website.

Deductions can be any of the following:

  • Cancellation Penalty
  • Withholding Tax
  • Deduction Adjustments

According to the tax code, individuals who render work requiring intellectual processes are classified as professionals.

Kindly check BIR Regulation on Tax Compliance for more details.

Please note as a tutor you are an independent service contractor the company does not file the Income Tax Return (ITR) BIR Form 2316 for you. Instead you may download your BIR Form 2307 (Certificate of Creditable Tax Withheld At Source) here and attach it to your ITR.

International / Native Cut-Off Dates

International tutors' payments are credited once a month. You can find the information about the cut-off and payout dates on the Payment Information page on the Tutor's Site.

International / Native Payment Scheme

While old tutors receive their payment via bank/wire transfer after opening a USD bank account, new tutors are required to have a Payoneer account, unless it is unavailable in their country. For such cases, please contact the Tutor-Payroll team directly.

Note that all dates and times in our system follow Japanese Standard Time (JST).

For Bank / Wire Transfer

The payable amount must be at least $50 in a cut-off for it to be processed because the third party in this transaction automatically rejects payments below $50. Payments below $50 will be accumulated and will be disbursed once you have a minimum of $50 in a payment term.

Bank/wire transfer charges are shouldered by the company. However, there may be additional incoming bank charges which you have to shoulder. More information about this can be provided by your specific banks.

Submitting and Updating Payment Details for International / Native Tutors

Payoneer is the only payment method offered to new tutors. Payoneer requires you to have at least $20 as a minimum transfer, however, there is no minimum transfer amount for PayPal. Old tutors or those who have issues with Payoneer or PayPal may contact Tutor-Payroll team directly via email at tutor.payroll@engoo.com

To submit or update your payment information please fill out [ENGOO] Payment Submission Form for INT and NAT. A detailed instruction about this is found in our How to Submit Your Payment Details (International and Native tutors) article.

Note: Payoneer and Paypal - The deadline for submission and update is every cut-off.
Bank Transfer - The deadline for submission and update is at the end of every month.

You may only select your payment method once. It can no longer be changed once finalized so please choose carefully.

Updating your tutor’s email on the tutor’s page will not automatically change the payment email as reflected on the Tutor-Payroll department’s side. You should inform and send the updated payment details to tutor.payroll@engoo.com

Payment Deductions

This can be checked on the breakdown provided in the payslip on your tutor’s payment page. For further inquiries about deductions, you may contact the Tutor-Payroll team directly via email at tutor.payroll@engoo.com

Payment Adjustments

Adjustments due to penalty exemptions from a previous cut-off will be reflected on your next payslip. You must have at least one (1) opened slot within this period to receive the payment.

Updating Payslip Information

Your payslip can be printed out per pay out date. The information reflected such as your address and name can be updated by editing your profile. Please refer to this article for more information.

Student / Tutor Status

Being a tutor and a student simultaneously is not allowed.

Taxation of Japanese Tutors

Withholding tax reports (源泉徴収票) are not available as tutors in Japan are not full-time employees. We do, however, apply the 10% Value-Added Tax to your payment.

You may download and print out your payslip from your tutor's payment page. Please submit it to the tax office to inform them that you are a self-employed individual.

In the event that you will be working outside of the country or returning to Japan, please send an email to notify the Payroll Team. This will just serve as a reference for your taxation information.

If your account has been deactivated and you can’t access your payment page, please send an email to the Tutor-Payroll team at tutor.payroll@engoo.com. They will assist you to get the documents you need.

If you need any information that is not covered in this article, please contact Tutor Support.
